The Clark Group Supports the City of Montpelier’s Initiative to Expand Hubbard Park

The United States Forest Service’s (USFS) Community Forest Program awarded $258,000 to the City of Montpelier to expand Hubbard Park. USFS offers financial assistance through a competitive grant program to local governments, tribal entities, and conservation non-profits. The City of Montpelier submitted a proposal to expand Hubbard Park and secure public access to over 80 acres of private land and protect the natural land and waters. The project will also make the park more accessible to all community members and further community engagement in Montpelier’s parks and outdoor recreation activities. The city’s proposal ranked #4 in the country for the Community Forest and Open Space 2021 grant program.

The city still needs to raise $100,000 by mid- December to finalize the project. The Clark Group has supported this effort with a donation. Expanding Hubbard Park aligns with TCG’s mission to advance solutions that recognize the compatibility of environmental protection and economic growth. Montpelier is also the home of TCG’s Vermont office, located in downtown just steps away from the entrance to Hubbard Park. The Clark Group’s President, Lisa Mahoney moved to Vermont in 1996 to study environmental law and policy at Vermont Law School. She currently lives in Montpelier with her family and frequently enjoys walks with her dog Loki on the many quiet wooded trails that Hubbard Park has to offer.
