NOAA Hazardous Materials Training

Policy Training | Hazardous Materials

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) define hazardous materials as articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property, or the environment; are listed or classified in the regulations; and are transported in commerce. Before you can enter or start work on an uncontrolled hazardous waste operation, you need to learn how to stay safe while handling dangerous chemicals.

The Clark Group developed training materials to help NOAA-wide offices comply with laws regulating the management of hazardous materials, including requirements for storage, transport and disposal. This effort was part of a larger contract in which The Clark Group drafted a series of environmental compliance manuals about hazardous materials and electronic waste.
